A political action committee from Fox News’ parent company donated money to host the Democratic Senate Joe Manchin’s re-election campaign, a new filing shows.
Fox Corp. PAC, which is partially funded by conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch, donated $ 1,500 to Manchin’s re-election campaign in June 2024, according to a statement to the federal electoral commission. The campaign raised just under $ 1.4 million in the second quarter.
It would be the first time Manchin has received a donation from Fox Corp. PAC receives, according to a CNBC review of FEC records and data from the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics.
The reveal comes when Manchin, representing the deep red state of West Virginia, is pressured by conservative voices in Fox News and elsewhere to hamper and curtail the ambitious and expensive agenda of President Joe Biden and Democratic leaders.
Manchin has a decisive vote in the Senate, where the Democrats have a slim majority due to Vice President Kamala Harris being tied. The donation from Fox Corp. came in the same month that Manchin penned a comment describing his opposition to the elimination of the filibuster and to the Democrat’s right to vote for the people.
Manchin has been besieged by outside groups, including those linked to billionaire Charles Koch, to oppose central elements of his party’s agenda.
In the second quarter, Manchin also received contributions from many other large companies, including Pfizer, T-Mobile, Nucor, Honeywell, and Herbalife.
A Fox Corp. spokesman and Manchin officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

CRP data shows that Murdoch, the company’s chairman, donated $ 10,000 to Fox Corp. during the 2020 election cycle. PAC donated. Lachlan Murdoch, his son and CEO of Fox Corp., gave the committee just over $ 2,000.
During the last election, the PAC gave candidates more than $ 180,000, dividing the amount almost evenly between Democratic and Republican lawmakers.
As for the Democrats who received donations from Fox Corp. in the last cycle. PAC received include Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from New York, and Sens. Chris Coons from Delaware and Mark Warner from Virginia.
